Project 365 - Somewhere in October

Project 365 button designed by

I can't even call this post "Project 365" because it's real pitiful and I can't remember when I took the photos but I did want to share them.  I'll do better next time.  If you'd like to see folks who are way better at this than me, please do blog-hop over to Sara's 365 page and she'll show you how it's done!

Purchased a scented candle with a nice autumn scent  of "carving pumpkins", it kind of smells like roasting pumpkin seeds sort of.

The lit window in the above, terribly grainy photo is of christmas lights!  Halloween hasn't passed and already I'm seeing christmas lights in windows.  Alright in stores but in homes?  Strange but true!

I happened to have a cake mix in the cupboard so I made cupcakes with it.  Sprinkled some coloured jimmies on top before baking.  When they were done I spread vanilla icing on them.  They were quite tasty too!

I wonder if white, silver and red will be this years "christmas colours" because this window display has some pretty cute items mostly in white and silver, but few in red.  I should have gone closer to take the photo but I hadn't thought I'd be blogging it so it never quite occurred to me!  duh!

Pumpkins on display at the outdoor market!  So cute!

Samaritan's Purse

While most folks are getting ready for Halloween, I'm more in "Christmas mode" than anything.  Our church has been handing out small green and red shoebox/gift boxes to be filled in support of Operation Christmas Child.
Last week at church we waited until after the service to go collect some boxes but they ran out!  We did get six boxes and will had to the shop sometime over the weekend to get them filled.
I get it that some schools don't want to promote this project due to religious reasons (some kids not acknowledging the holiday) but why not just ask all the kids to pop into the dollar store and provide a toy?  One dollar per kid that'll be about twenty or so toys per classroom that can be boxed up by the teachers privately.... just my opinion anyway... I am glad that some schools go ahead with this program nonetheless!

Samaritan's Purse also provides a link on their website for those who don't have access to boxes & collection sites to "build a box online".  If you aren't involved with this project, now would be a great time to start.

As I may have mentioned before, I am in the process of working on a dvd photo-slideshow for my family.  This is part of the reason that I haven't blogged much (along with being blogstipated of course!)

So I finally have the playlist (also known as the official soundtrack) prepared!  Phew that was a lot of work.  Sixteen songs will be played behind the photos and oh how it's coming along so nicely!  I've been working on it almost daily for this month and can't wait for the weekend to get another chunk completed after all the mailing date is set for November 28-30th.  I can't recall being so excited over a personal project as much as this!

Blog Hop Skip Jump

Must say, it's been a while since I've blog-hopped around the blog-o-sphere and since I appear to be slightly blogstipated this month, I guess now is as good a time as ever to get to reading blogs I follow and hopping to other blogs via the next blog feature.  Maybe I'll get lucky and stumble on to some baking recipe blogs or at least something that will deblogstipate me!

Found On Flickr: Halloween Cakes

Now this is something I can do for halloween!  Never thought of it until I spotted this photo on Flickr.  Ya, Flickr is my new found fun!

I'm not a fan of candycorn though, they don't really have any taste to them.  I think I'll pick up a bag of them just to make a dozen of chocolate cupcakes... any excuse to make chocolate cupcakes is a good excuse in my book!  Bad enough the other day I put frosting on a carrot muffin because I really wanted the sweet frosting!

Found On Flickr: Halloween Costume

I found this cutie on Flickr.

Isn't that a cute halloween costume?  If this little guy knocked on my door, I'd certainly hand over the bowl of candy!

Halloween Stuff

I made this quite some years ago.  It's a halloween napkin holder with coasters.  The house is hollow so the napkins can sit inside it and the ghosts are the coasters.  There are four ghosts, each one has the word "Boo" stitched on their bellies in orange or black.  The only thing is I cut the skeleton out using 7 count plastic instead of 10 count.  He's supposed to be smaller!  It's still kind of cute too.  I have no clue what ever became of it though.  I think I may have given it away.

As per the norm at this time of year, folks start decorating for halloween putting up the plastic glow in the dark skeleton and then there's that house that has the full size manequin done up to look like zombie - real creepy to see when going out to your car at the crack of dawn! Let me tell you, seeing that thing the first day at the crack of dawn when technically the sun hasn't actually risen yet, is a sure fire way to rid yourself of your morning coffee real fast and quick.

It also jumpstarts the heart and gets the adrenalein rushing.

I'm waiting to closer to halloween before pulling out the camera and taking photos to post but trust me, these families are pretty creative!

Giving Thanks

Today is the Canadian Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians.

Psalm 107:1 (KJV)

O give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever.
