Blistex Fruit Smoothies

A couple weeks ago I purchased a pack of the Blistex Fruit Smoothies Lip Balms.  I usually use the regular Blistex because it's very good at keeping my lips from becoming chapped whether it be in the heat of summer or the cold wind of winter.  Naturally, when I seen the three pack of fruit flavoured lip balms on sale, well.... it was on sale so what can I say!

I have no issues with the taste of them.  They are nice an fruity and creamy too.  The tube allows for easy application, same tube as the regular Blistex as a matter of fact.

What bothers me about them is that I feel my lips have been more chapped than ever since I've been using them!  Seriously!  I keep them in my jacket pockets so there's always one handy but my lips are always chapped and I'm always chewing the skin on my lips... gross but you do it too so stop pretending.

I think I'm going to switch to something else for the next couple of days to be sure that it's the Blistex Fruit Smoothies that's just not agreeing with my lips but at this moment, I don't recommend this product unless you want chapped lips.

Michaels Crafts

So I went to Micheal's Craft shop and it was like being in craft heaven!  I was in there with my husband, so obviously, I was only able to be in there for ten minutes.

I know right!?  What on earth can I possibly see in ten minutes??

Took me a whole three seconds to find the yarn section where I picked up a skein of bright pink yarn.   Then just behind the yarn section was the plastic canvas section where I picked up some stiff plastic.  I get the regular plastic canvas at the dollar stores, they're all the same price for the standard size anyway.   I also picked up some plastic canvas hearts and stars shapes along with two fat quarters of fabric because I have a felt pattern of a doll but needed a small piece of fabric for her skirt.  I also got a recycle bag that says Michael's on the front of it.

I was eager to spend the gift card I had received at Christmas from one of my aunts.  She wasn't sure what to buy me so she gave me the gift card which made me happy as a clam!  Anything craft related makes me a happy camper!!!

And yarn.... well I just love yarn so much it's not funny.

H2O Damage

So a few weeks ago, our roof was repaired and I was so happy that I would no longer be hearing the pitter patter of squirrel feet up in there.  I already had to deal with a squirrel who got lost in our roof a few years back.  Poor little fella got lost, in the middle of summer and I banged the ceiling with a ladle yelling at it to stop whining and die anyway, our roof was repaired.

A few days later the water in our toilet started to disappear.

A day or so later it rained.

It rained a lot.

It really REALLY rained a lot!!!

I came home from work that morning, tired as can be.  I put in my ear plugs, put on my sleeping mask, crawled under the covers and into dreamland I boldly went.

Later in the afternoon when the husband came home from work, I was awakened to yelling "SUSAN....SUSAN!!!"

Ok so I get out of bed in a hurry and rush to his voice which is right there near the linen closet....

The ceiling inside the closet is leaking!!!

Ok so that photo I snatched from the net, but our ceiling was pouring in just like that!!!

The good thing was I was able to mop up all the water and place plastic drop cloths over the floor to prevent more water damage.

The bad thing is the roof drain was clogged, hence our toilet's receding water, same drain basically, and the overwhelming amount of rain caused the drain to flood and the puddle decided to leak through the roof and into my closet.

Oh, did I mention that everything in the linen closet got soaked?  The sheets, the towels, the curtains.... everything that was stored in that closet absorbed up most of the water, which explains why there wasn't much water on the floor!  But it all became laundry because of the dirty water that leaked from the roof.

So, anyway, we took everything to the laundromat early one morning and monopolized all the large machines to get everything washed, then monopolized all the dryers too!   A couple hours later we were done!

The ceiling will be repaired in the coming days thankfully and yes, we have insurance!!!  Someones gotta pay for all that laundry!!
